How To Measure Commercial Fridge Sizes?
Step 1: Prepare tools
When measuring a commercial refrigerator, you need to prepare a tape measure, paper and pen to record the data. Make sure your tools are accurate and reliable so that you can get accurate dimensional data.
Step 2: Measure the external dimensions
- Height: Measure vertically from the bottom edge of the refrigerator to the top edge, also excluding door handles or decorative parts.
- Depth: Measure horizontally from the front edge of the refrigerator to the back edge, excluding door handles or decorative parts.
Note: If the refrigerator is a built-in design, you need to measure the gap between the sides and the cabinet to ensure that the refrigerator can be smoothly embedded.
Step 3: Measure the internal dimensions
The internal dimensions include the length, width and height of the refrigerator and freezer. Use a tape measure to measure the actual available range of the internal space and record the data to evaluate the storage capacity.
Step 4: Reserve space
During the measurement process, consider the space requirements around the refrigerator:
- Ventilation space: Leave at least 10 cm of space on both sides of the refrigerator to ensure heat dissipation and ventilation.
- Door opening space: Make sure there is enough space when the refrigerator door is fully opened to avoid collisions.
- Installation path: Plan the movement path of the refrigerator from the door to the location where it is placed to ensure there are no obstacles.
Step 5: Calculate the volume
If you need to know the storage capacity of the refrigerator, you can calculate its cubic feet or liters:
- Formula: Volume (cubic feet) = Height (feet) × Width (feet) × Depth (feet).
- Convert to liters: Multiply cubic feet by 1000.
Notes
Clear light: Measure in bright light to improve accuracy.
Remove items: Empty the refrigerator before measuring to avoid items blocking the measurement.
Measure multiple times: To ensure accurate data, it is recommended to measure multiple times and take the average.

How To Choose The Appropriate Commercial Refrigerator Dimensions & Sizes?
Measure The Size Of Your Space
Before purchasing a commercial freezer or cooler, you first need to accurately measure the available space in your kitchen or storage area. Make sure the equipment can be comfortably placed in the designated location and leave enough space for the equipment door to open and close. For example, if space is limited, you can choose a countertop freezer or compact cooler.
Evaluate Storage Needs
Evaluate the amount of food or beverages that need to be stored based on business needs. For example, a restaurant needs to choose the right capacity based on the types of ingredients on the menu and the amount used during peak hours. If the storage needs are large, you can choose a large upright freezer or aisle cooler.
Capacity And Volume
Make sure the capacity of the selected equipment can meet the storage needs to avoid equipment that is too small, which will cause crowding and affect food quality and operational efficiency. For example, for commercial kitchens that need to store a large number of ingredients, it is recommended to choose a freezer or cooler with a larger capacity.
Tips For Maximizing Space Efficiency When Using Commercial Freezers
Plan Storage Areas Properly
Commercial freezers usually have multiple independent storage areas, such as a four-door design freezer, each door can be opened separately for easy classification and management. This design not only improves space utilization, but also reduces operational interference during busy hours. In addition, rationally allocating storage space according to food type and purpose, such as storing meat, seafood, dairy products, etc. in different areas, can improve access efficiency and avoid cross contamination.
Utilize Vertical Space
Installing adjustable shelves or adding wall-mounted shelves inside the freezer can make full use of vertical space. For example, place larger or heavier items at the bottom and smaller items at the top to form a layered structure to maximize storage capacity.
Optimize Door Space
Small items such as seasonings, sauces or bottled drinks can be stored in the freezer door using partitions, shelves or magnetic storage bags. This not only saves space, but also facilitates access.
Use Transparent Containers And Labeling Systems
Using transparent containers to store food can quickly identify the contents and reduce searching time. At the same time, labeling each item (including name and date) helps track the shelf life of food and reduce waste.
Follow The First-In-First-Out Principle (Fifo)
Put newly purchased food at the back and old food at the front to ensure that food is used first within the shelf life. This method not only improves the freshness of food, but also avoids the waste of expired food.
Regular Cleaning And Maintenance
Regularly clean the inside of the freezer, remove expired or damaged food, and check the sealing and refrigeration effect of the equipment. Keeping the freezer dry and clean helps to extend the life of the equipment and improve energy efficiency.
Use Dedicated Storage Solutions
Choosing dedicated storage tools suitable for freezers, such as vacuum bags, sealed boxes, etc., can reduce air contact and prevent food from thawing and spoiling. In addition, using rotating racks or inert rotators can make it easy to organize and access food.
Avoid Overcrowding
Ensure that there is enough air circulation space inside the freezer to avoid the cold air from being evenly distributed due to the accumulation of items. Maintaining appropriate spacing (such as 3-6 cm) helps maintain optimal refrigeration.
Use Dual-Zone Design
For dual-zone freezers, place foods that need to be kept at low temperatures (such as dairy products and raw meats) in the cold zone, and foods that are suitable for higher temperatures (such as prepared foods and desserts) in the warm zone. This zoning design can make more efficient use of space.
Regularly Check And Adjust
Adjust the shelf height and shelf position according to actual needs to ensure that each item can be stored in the most suitable place. At the same time, adjust the temperature setting according to seasonal changes to optimize energy use.
